Sony hosted its largest State of Play broadcast to date on Thursday, February 12, presenting over 60 minutes of game announcements, release dates, and trailers for upcoming PlayStation 5 titles. The showcase featured a mix of first-party, third-party, and indie games, capping off with two major God of War reveals that caught viewers off guard.

John Wick, Marathon, and Third-Party Highlights

Among the biggest surprises was the official reveal of an untitled John Wick game from Saber Interactive, with Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the legendary hitman. The trailer showcased what developers described as "a distinct gun fu combat system, jaw-dropping camerawork, immersive driving experiences, and a variety of memorable environments". Franchise director Chad Stahelski is involved in the project, which will feature an original script set within the John Wick universe.

Sony-owned Bungie unveiled a "server slam" preview for Marathon running from February 26 to March 2, ahead of the extraction shooter's March 5 launch across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X. Housemarque's Saros received a new trailer confirming its April 30 release date, while Capcom showcased another look at Resident Evil Requiem, which arrives February 27.

Koei Tecmo announced a new Dead or Alive project alongside Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, a free-to-play remaster launching June 25 to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary. Phantom Blade Zero also appeared, with its September 9 release date reaffirmed.

God of War Closes the Show, Wolverine Absent

Sony saved its finale for the God of War franchise. Santa Monica Studio confirmed that a remake of the original Greek trilogy is in early development, with original voice actor TC Carson returning. In a surprise move, the studio also shadow-dropped God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action platformer developed by Mega Cat Studios depicting Kratos and his brother Deimos during their youth.

Sucker Punch Productions announced that Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the free cooperative multiplayer DLC, will launch on March 10 with story missions, survival modes, and four-player raids.

Notably absent was Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac Games had previously confirmed via social media that updates on the anticipated title would not arrive until "Spring 2026," suggesting a dedicated showcase may be forthcoming.

Silent Hill Transmission Follows

Konami scheduled a dedicated Silent Hill Transmission broadcast for one hour after State of Play's conclusion, promising updates on Silent Hill: Townfall, the long-mysterious spin-off first announced in 2022.
