Requiem, potentially the final chapter in Leon's story, features dual protagonists and launches February 27, 2026.

The PlayStation Store has inadvertently confirmed that Leon S. Kennedy will appear in Resident Evil Requiem, ending months of speculation just days before Capcom's planned reveal at The Game Awards. On December 9, PS5 users who pre-ordered the standard edition discovered updated cover art on their pre-download screens featuring an older, bearded Leon positioned prominently behind protagonist Grace Ashcroft.
IGN verified the leaked artwork's authenticity after multiple players reported the image appearing when attempting to pre-load the game. The cover shows Leon sporting his signature hairstyle from Resident Evil 4, but with greying hair, stubble, and a more weathered appearance, matching earlier descriptions from industry insider Dusk Golem, who has maintained for months that Leon would play a major role in the game.
Capcom's Failed Secrecy Campaign
The leak marks an embarrassing setback for Capcom, which has repeatedly deflected questions about Leon's involvement. Producer Masato Kumazawa dismissed previous Leon-related leaks as "fake news" in November, while game director Koshi Nakanishi suggested Leon wouldn't fit the game's horror focus, stating "no one wants to see Leon scared by everything". The company appeared to be saving Leon's reveal as a centrepiece for The Game Awards presentation on December 11.
According to Dusk Golem, Resident Evil Requiem may serve as the final chapter in Leon's trilogy, following Resident Evil 2 and 4. The game features dual protagonists, with FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft investigating mysterious deaths at Raccoon City's Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother Alyssa was killed eight years prior, while Leon handles more action-oriented sequences.
Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
