Mumbai: Reliance Industries on Saturday announced that its subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Ltd, has formed a joint venture with Meta’s subsidiary to market and distribute enterprise AI in India.

The new company, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), has been established in partnership with Facebook Overseas, Inc., according to a stock exchange filing. The joint venture will see an initial combined investment of around ₹855 crore from the Mukesh Ambani- and Mark Zuckerberg-led companies to “develop, market and distribute enterprise AI services.”

Reliance Intelligence will hold a 70% stake in REIL, while Facebook Overseas, Inc., a Meta Platforms unit, will own 30%, the filing said. The partnership aims to provide an enterprise AI platform-as-a-service, enabling organisations to customise and deploy generative models, along with pre-configured solutions for industries including sales, marketing, IT operations, customer service and finance.

Reliance Intelligence will contribute ₹2 crore towards the initial subscription of 20 million equity shares of ₹10 each. The filing noted that the transaction is not a related-party deal, and none of the company’s promoters or group companies have any interest in it. No government or regulatory approvals were required to incorporate REIL.

This follows Reliance’s August announcement of a venture using Meta’s open-source LLaMA models, combined with Reliance’s enterprise reach, to offer AI tools across sectors. Meta will provide technical expertise for the LLaMA-based models, while Reliance will leverage its digital infrastructure and access to thousands of Indian enterprises and small businesses. Solutions will be deployable on cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments, with a focus on reducing total cost of ownership.
