Users can now connect their controller to up to four devices simultaneously, switching between them seamlessly

Sony has begun rolling out the highly anticipated PS5 system software update 25.06-12.00.00 as of September 17, 2025. This update brings two major new features: the ability to connect a DualSense or DualSense Edge controller to multiple devices simultaneously, and a Power Saver mode designed to reduce energy consumption during gameplay. These additions aim to enhance both convenience and sustainability for PS5 users.

One of the biggest highlights of the update is the new feature that enables DualSense controllers to be paired with up to four devices at once. Whether it’s multiple PlayStation 5 consoles, a PC, a mobile phone, or any Bluetooth-compatible device, users can register all these connections on one controller. Switching between paired devices is straightforward; players simply press the PS button along with the assigned action button (triangle, circle, cross, or square) corresponding to the desired device slot.
The pairing process requires disconnecting any USB connection first. Users then press and hold the PS button alongside one of the four action buttons for a few seconds to enter connection mode. Once a device picks up the controller via Bluetooth, the light bar on the controller will indicate the slot number through blinking lights, confirming a successful pairing.
Introducing Power Saver Mode for Energy Efficiency
The update also introduces a Power Saver mode that allows gamers to reduce the power consumption of their PS5 when playing supported games. This mode can be enabled or disabled on a per-game basis through Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. When active, Power Saver may scale back certain gameplay performance aspects, and VR mode is disabled to save energy. Supported titles, including upcoming releases like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei, will take full advantage of this feature to offer users a more environmentally friendly gaming experience.
Additional Improvements and Stability Enhancements
Beyond these headline features, the update also contains firmware improvements for various controllers, including the DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access controller, enhancing their stability and overall performance. Sony has also improved system messaging and user interface usability on select screens, ensuring a smoother and more intuitive experience for players.
How to Update Your PS5 System Software
To install the update, users can navigate to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings on their PS5 console. The update weighs around 1.3GB and may install automatically if the console is left in Rest Mode with the appropriate settings enabled. The rollout is staggered by region, so some users may receive the update slightly later.
