With the launch of the OnePlus Nord 5 set for July 8, OnePlus continues to unveil key features of its upcoming devices. On Tuesday, the company announced that the OnePlus Nord 5 would include the same 50-megapixel primary camera sensor seen in its flagship OnePlus 13 series, including the recently introduced OnePlus 13s. This suggests that users can expect strong imaging capabilities from the Nord 5, although the rest of the camera components, such as lenses and other modules, will differ from those in the flagship line.

The rear camera of the Nord 5 will use the Sony LYT-700 sensor, which also powers the main cameras in the OnePlus 13 series. For selfies, the device will feature another 50-megapixel sensor, this time using the JN5 sensor. Alongside the main rear sensor, the Nord 5 will include an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens offering a 116-degree field of view.

Despite the similarities in camera hardware with premium OnePlus phones, expectations should be tempered in light of the Nord 5’s market segment. Given its expected competitive pricing, the phone may not deliver the exact performance of the OnePlus 13 series. However, OnePlus assures that the Nord 5 will come equipped with advanced computational photography features, including the “OnePlus 13 HDR algorithm.” This, the company claims, will deliver accurate colours and retain fine details, even in challenging low-light scenarios.

Further enhancements include LivePhoto functionality with Ultra HDR support and the ability to record 4K video.

While complete specifications are yet to be disclosed, OnePlus has already confirmed that the Nord 5 will run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. This chipset is expected to position it among the fastest devices in its category. The phone is also set to support gameplay at 144 FPS in titles like Call of Duty and BGMI. To manage thermal performance, it will feature Cryo-Velocity vapour chamber cooling technology.
