While the brand will persist in China, it plans to cease all international operations, including India, by 2027.

OnePlus is reportedly preparing to cease its operations across the United States and Europe as early as this week, marking the beginning of a significant global retreat for the smartphone brand. According to a Bloomberg report, this move is part of a broader, fundamental restructuring at its parent company, Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corporation Ltd.
While the brand will continue to operate in China, reports indicate that this withdrawal will eventually become global. Following the imminent exit from Western markets, the company plans to cease operations in India and all other international markets by 2027.
Factors Driving the Withdrawal
The decision to scale back is driven by a combination of commercial and geopolitical pressures. Industry analysts, such as Mark Gurman, highlight that OnePlus has faced significant challenges in building meaningful market share against established rivals like Apple and Samsung in the US and Europe.
Financial strain has been compounded by an acute memory component crisis. As production capacity for critical memory chips, such as LPDDR, has been increasingly redirected towards data centre infrastructure, component costs have surged. For a brand traditionally focused on providing high specifications at aggressive price points, these rising costs—particularly affecting the budget-friendly "Nord" lineup—have rendered their current business model structurally uneconomic.
Additionally, the company is contending with external legal and political complications. Reports note that OnePlus is currently facing a lawsuit from Apple Inc. concerning the alleged misuse of trade secrets, while Chinese smartphone brands continue to encounter heightened regulatory scrutiny within the US market.
Future Outlook
As part of the same strategic overhaul, sibling brand Realme is expected to exit the Chinese domestic market entirely, with plans to refocus its efforts on the Nordic region.
For existing OnePlus users, the immediate impact remains limited. Although new launches and fresh inventory shipments for the US and Europe are expected to halt, the company has indicated that software updates and after-sales support for currently sold devices will continue until the end of their respective product lifecycles. Meanwhile, India—currently one of the brand's most significant markets—is expected to maintain operations until the 2027 wind-down timeline. To date, there has been no official confirmation from OnePlus.
