Nothing has ramped up excitement for the launch of its upcoming smartphone, the ‘Nothing Phone (3)’ by teasing what appears to be a partial glimpse of the back panel of the Phone (3). The official reveal is scheduled for July 1.

The company took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday to share a photo showing a mysterious button on the rear of the phone. Captioned “What does this button do?”, the post immediately sparked a wave of speculation online. Just above the button, the design featured a transparent section showcasing detailed, circuit-like engravings.

Majority of responses ironically answered with the word “Nothing”, prompting the brand to reply, “please stop commenting 'nothing'.”

Nothing’s Co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, also weighed in, sharing the same image with a message that read, “We’re always looking to spark wonder and surprise through unique product features and experiences. Here’s another one.”

Fans react with creative guesses

One fan commented by comparing the button to a Tesla Robotaxi controller and said, “This is what controls Tesla Robotaxis.”

Another guessed it might be gaming-related and said, “Some type of game controller or joystick?”

A user speculated it could have a camera function and said, “Take selfies?”

One fan hinted at a design feature and said, “Glyph matrix customisation.”

Another expressed impatience over the teaser and said, “haha, we get it. just show us the phone already.”

A user eager for the official unveiling asked, “When will the full design be revealed?”

The teaser campaign has successfully sparked online debate, fuelling anticipation for the full reveal of the Nothing Phone (3).

Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (3) will come with the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor.

The Nothing Phone (3) is also expected to run on Android 15, layered with the company’s custom Nothing OS. Reports suggest it may sport a flat OLED screen offering a 120Hz refresh rate. Camera-wise, the device is likely to feature a triple-lens setup with a 50MP primary sensor. Powering the phone could be a 5,150mAh battery, with support for 65W fast charging.
