Expect reveals of the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses with a built-in heads-up display, Oakley Meta Sphaera sports glasses, and potentially the Asus ROG Tarius VR headset

Meta is ready to host its annual Connect event this week, where the company usually makes its biggest announcements on hardware, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and metaverse technologies. It is also the stage for product showcases and developer keynotes aimed at building new experiences for users.
When is Meta Connect 2025 taking place?
Meta Connect 2025 will run from 17 to 18 September. The event will begin with a keynote by Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg at 5 pm PT (which will be 5:30 am IST if you are tuning in from India).
How can you watch Meta Connect 2025?
Traditionally, Connect has been an in-person gathering at Meta’s Menlo Park headquarters. This year too, it will be available to attend virtually. The company will livestream the event on its official website, but registration is required, and it is free of charge.
Those with Meta Quest headsets will have another option, they can watch the event inside Meta Horizon, the company’s AR and VR social platform. In addition, the livestream will also be shown on Meta for Developers on Facebook.
What products are expected at Connect 2025?
Recently, Meta accidentally uploaded a video on its YouTube page that revealed some of the upcoming launches. Though the video was quickly removed, it offered an early look at what is coming.
One of the highlights is believed to be the launch of Meta Ray-Ban Display, a new pair of smart glasses. The product is said to look identical to the current Ray-Ban Meta Glasses with its Wayfarer-style design. However, the key difference is a heads-up display placed at the bottom of the right lens.
Leaks suggest the screen may allow users to check information such as map previews, chats with friends, and details about the objects they are viewing. The device is expected to work with gesture controls, powered by the rumoured sEMG Wristband.
The leaked video also pointed to the Oakley Meta Sphaera, another pair of smart glasses, this time aimed at cyclists and athletes. Unlike the Ray-Ban model, it is likely to feature a camera in the centre, giving a more natural point of view.
Reports have also hinted that Meta might finally share more details about the long-awaited Asus ROG “Tarius” VR headset during the event.
Alongside product announcements, Meta has confirmed a session that will feature Michael Abrash, Chief Scientist of Reality Labs, and Richard Newcombe, Vice President of Reality Labs Research. The two will discuss the “future of glasses with contextual AI, and how Meta is poised to transform the future of computing.”
