It enables users to generate unique fonts and effects based on natural language descriptions

Instagram is reportedly testing a new AI-powered feature called ‘Restyle Text’, which will allow users to create custom text styles in Stories and videos using simple prompts. The feature is part of Instagram’s recently launched Restyle tool, which uses Meta’s generative AI models to let users edit images and videos directly within the app — similar to how Google’s Nano Banana model works.
According to a Mashable report, Instagram has started testing the Restyle Text feature with a limited number of users. As the name suggests, it enables users to generate unique fonts and effects based on natural language descriptions. For instance, users can type prompts such as “balloon-style text” or “shiny chrome letters” to instantly transform the look of their captions.
The platform is also said to include some built-in presets, such as Chrome and Balloon, to make the process easier for casual users.
What Is Instagram’s Restyle Tool?
The Restyle feature, introduced recently, allows users to add, remove, or modify elements in photos and videos using AI prompts. It’s currently available in Instagram Stories and the Edits app, offering easy-to-use creative controls similar to Google’s Nano Banana image editing tool.
To access the feature, users can upload an image to their Story, tap the paintbrush icon on the top right, and choose from multiple AI editing options — including Add, Remove, Change, and several preset styles.
The new Restyle Text feature builds on this by letting users craft AI-generated fonts and designs, giving more creative freedom when posting Stories or short clips.
Meta has not officially confirmed when the Restyle Text feature will roll out to all users, but it is currently being tested with select accounts.
