Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his greetings on the 77th Republic Day, urged citizens to renew their commitment to a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

New Delhi: Google marked India’s 77th Republic Day with a special doodle inspired by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), celebrating a landmark year for the country’s space programme. The doodle highlights major upcoming missions, including Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan, underscoring India’s growing global stature in space exploration.
The Republic Day 2026 doodle features space-themed visuals such as satellites, orbital paths and celestial elements integrated into the letters of “GOOGLE” in tricolour hues of orange, white and green. Clicking on the doodle directs users to the official Google Doodle page displaying the message: “Happy India Republic Day.”
Republic Day, observed annually on January 26, marks the day India adopted its Constitution in 1950, officially becoming a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. The day symbolises the culmination of India’s freedom struggle and the establishment of constitutional governance founded on justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his greetings on the 77th Republic Day, urged citizens to renew their commitment to a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Greetings to all countrymen on Republic Day. This national festival, symbolising India's pride and honour, should infuse new energy and enthusiasm, strengthening the resolve for Viksit Bharat."

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the National War Memorial at the historic India Gate. Present alongside him were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Services General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal APS Singh, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Tripathi.

The laying of the wreath marks the formal commencement of Republic Day celebrations and stands as a tribute to personnel who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
An Inter-Services Guard, comprising 21 inner guards, seven from each service, and six buglers, two from each service, were present for the ceremony. Inner guards from the Indian Air Force included one Sergeant with six Corporals and below ranks.
