The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has issued a high severity warning concerning serious security issues in Google Chrome.
The alert specifically targets desktop users of the Chrome browser. CERT-IN experts have identified several security vulnerabilities within the browser. If exploited, these could allow hackers to take control of affected computers. The government agency has urged users to update their Chrome browsers immediately.
The vulnerabilities were found in Google Chrome's code base. The affected software includes Google Chrome Stable channel versions prior to 127.0.6533.88/89 (for Windows and Mac) and Google Chrome Stable channel versions prior to 127.0.6533.88 (for Linux).
Details of these vulnerabilities are outlined in 'Vulnerability Note CIVN-2024-0231' issued by CERT-IN.
These security flaws could enable hackers to gain control of computers, steal information, and install malicious software.
To prevent a security breach, users are urged to update their Chrome browsers to the latest version. They are also advised to activate automatic updates to avoid delays in receiving security patches.
