Elon Musk has taken another jab at Jeff Bezos, branding him a “copycat,” a term he has frequently used whenever the Amazon founder enters technology spaces where Musk has already established dominance.

Shortly after Bezos unveiled his forthcoming artificial intelligence initiative, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter), writing “Haha no way” with a laughing emoji, followed by the word “Copy” and a cat emoji.

This is not the first instance of Musk calling out Bezos in such a manner. Previously, Musk made similar remarks when Bezos outlined plans for internet-beaming satellites to rival SpaceX and when Amazon acquired the self-driving car startup Zoox, a move that appeared to challenge Tesla.

The rivalry between Musk and Bezos spans multiple high-tech arenas—from space exploration to satellite internet, and now artificial intelligence. Musk’s xAI recently launched its Grok model, positioning itself against competitors like OpenAI and Google. Bezos’s latest initiative, Project Prometheus, now enters the competitive AI landscape.

Project Prometheus represents Bezos’s first significant operational role since he stepped down as Amazon CEO four years ago. The venture will be co-led by Vik Bajaj, a former Google X scientist who has collaborated closely with Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Bezos will take on the role of CEO alongside Bajaj, who has co-founded Verily and Foresite Labs.

The startup has already secured $6.2 billion in funding, with a significant portion coming from Bezos himself, making it one of the most well-capitalised startups globally at such an early stage, according to the New York Times.

Project Prometheus plans to develop AI-driven products for engineering and manufacturing across sectors such as computing, aerospace, and automotive industries.
