Every year, Apple typically introduces a signature colour for its Pro lineup. For the iPhone 17 Pro, the highlight was the vibrant “Cosmic Orange.”

Apple is reportedly planning a refreshed colour palette for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup, with a darker and more subdued aesthetic expected this year.
According to a report by Macworld, citing supply chain leaks, the new Pro models, likely to launch later this year, could feature more muted finishes compared to previous generations. Among the options being tested internally, a shade dubbed “Dark Cherry” is said to be the standout.
The report notes that Apple is currently experimenting with four colour variants for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Gray (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C). The Dark Cherry option is described as a deep, wine-like red, offering a more refined tone compared to the brighter hues seen in earlier models.
Every year, Apple typically introduces a signature colour for its Pro lineup. For the iPhone 17 Pro, the highlight was the vibrant “Cosmic Orange.” This year, however, Dark Cherry is expected to take that spot. While earlier leaks had pointed to a “Dark Red” variant, the latest information suggests the final shade leans closer to a rich wine tone rather than a brighter red.
Though not as striking as Cosmic Orange, Dark Cherry is still expected to stand out as the defining colour of the new lineup. As is typical, Apple may phase out current colour options to make way for the updated palette.
In addition to Dark Cherry, the Light Blue variant is said to resemble the Mist Blue seen on the base iPhone 17, while a darker grey and a classic silver option are also under consideration.
The report also highlights that these colours remain in development, and final selections could change before the devices enter mass production. Apple has previously explored multiple colour options that never made it to market. As development continues, it remains possible that one or more of the currently tested colours may be dropped before the official launch.
