iPhone 17 series specs, price, and launch date surface ahead of September Apple Event

With September drawing closer, all eyes are once again on Apple as it prepares to unveil its latest iPhones. The much-anticipated iPhone 17 series is expected to debut with iOS 26 out of the box, continuing Apple’s annual tradition. While the official announcement is still weeks away, the internet is already buzzing with leaks, renders, and insider whispers hinting at what Apple has planned for this year’s line-up.
iPhone 17 series pricing buzz
Pricing remains one of the most closely watched aspects of any Apple launch. Industry whispers suggest that Apple has softened the blow of Trump-era tariffs by expanding its US-based manufacturing, though Asia continues to play a crucial role in its supply chain. This means fluctuations in cost remain a possibility.
Recent leaks indicate that Apple may double the starting storage to 256GB across the entire iPhone 17 line-up, compared to the 128GB baseline of its predecessor. If true, this could trigger a price increase of around $50 (roughly ₹4,400). Considering the iPhone 16 model debuted at ₹79,900, the iPhone 17 could see a launch price of around ₹83,300. Naturally, the premium versions, including the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, may also climb in price.
A new entry, the iPhone 17 Air, is reportedly positioned between the standard model and the Pro series. Early estimates put its US price near $900 (about ₹78,886). In India, this could translate to between ₹90,000 and ₹1,00,000, offering buyers an option that is more affordable than the Pro models but more premium than the regular edition.
Expected specifications for iPhone 17 line-up
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be Apple’s slimmest smartphone to date, inspired by the brand’s lightweight “Air” laptops. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the device may ship with the A19 chip, a single rear camera and Apple’s custom modem, which made its debut earlier this year. Battery leaks suggest a compact 2,800mAh unit measuring just 2.49mm in thickness, slimmer than the Pro’s cell. The phone is tipped to feature a 6.6-inch display, Dynamic Island, Camera Control button and a titanium frame, with colour options including black, white, light blue and light gold.
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro could adopt aluminium frames, lighter than titanium, alongside a possible new full-width “camera island” design. The apple iPhone 17 Pro may also benefit from a redesigned antenna system aimed at stronger wireless connectivity, as reported by noted leaker Majin Bu. Colour choices for the standard iPhone 17 are expected to include black, white, steel grey, green, purple and light blue, while the Pro variant may come in black, white, grey, dark blue and orange.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will likely continue as the largest and most durable member of the family. Much like the Pro, it is said to adopt the aluminium frame and expanded camera housing but with added battery capacity thanks to its size. This positions the 17 Pro Max iPhone as the go-to option for users who prioritise performance and longevity.
iPhone 17 launch date
Apple traditionally holds its iPhone keynote in September, and this year looks to be no exception. According to German carrier sources cited by iphone-ticker.de, the event could take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Invitations usually go out just a week or two before the showcase, so Apple has yet to make it official. However, history strongly suggests an early September reveal. Some reports hint that from 2026 onwards, Apple may split its launches—releasing the Pro models in autumn and the standard versions in spring. For now, though, the full line-up, including the iPhone 17 Pro Max release date, is expected to be confirmed at next month’s event.
