Apple’s India‑based production had a freight‑on‑board value of $22 billion in FY25, out of which $7.5 billion worth of vale being exported.

Apple India recorded its highest-ever domestic sales of $9 billion in FY25, while one out of every five iPhones produced globally during the period was manufactured or assembled in India, according to company filings.
India’s manufacturing operations accounted for 12% of Apple’s total global production value, marking a major milestone in the tech giant’s expanding supply chain strategy.
Although Apple India contributed just over 2% to the company’s global revenue of $416.1 billion, analysts highlighted that the country’s role in iPhone production has grown significantly—especially with Apple beginning local assembly of its high-end Pro and Pro Max models for the first time.
The Americas remained Apple’s biggest market with $178.4 billion, nearly 43% of global revenue, followed by Europe at 26.7% and Greater China at 15.4%. A rising share of iPhones sold in the Americas were manufactured in India, filings noted.
Apple’s India revenue has grown nearly eightfold over the last decade, driven by strong demand for iPhones along with rising sales of MacBooks, iPads, AirPods and accessories. Services continue to form a small single-digit share of total revenue in the country.
The tech major’s India-based production had a freight-on-board (FOB) value of $22 billion in FY25, of which $7.5 billion worth of devices were exported, strengthening India’s position as a key global export hub for premium smartphones.
Local manufacturing largely supports the company’s sales force in India by avoiding the 16 per cent customs duty applied on fully imported phones.
In an earnings call with analysts after posting strong quarterly results, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that when it comes to retail, “We are heading into our busiest time of year with our best-ever lineup. In the last few months, we’ve opened new stores in emerging markets like India and the UAE and new locations in the US and China.”
For its fiscal 2025 fourth quarter ended September 27, the company posted quarterly revenue of $102.5 billion, up 8 per cent year-on-year. IANS
