The Marina Bay circuit features a revised layout for more speed. Drivers face tough conditions, testing car cooling and strategy

The 2025 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, the 18th round of the season, takes place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from October 3 to 5, with the race starting at 5:30 PM IST on Sunday, October 5. The event features a high-stakes night race under extreme heat and humidity, with teams focusing on high-downforce setups and strategic planning due to the high likelihood of Safety Car interventions. McLaren is on the verge of clinching the Constructors' Championship, needing only to outscore Ferrari by 13 points or Mercedes by 10.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit is 4.940 km long with 19 corners and four DRS zones, the most effective being between Turns 13 and 14. Since 2023, a reprofiled layout replaced the Turns 16–19 section with a long straight, increasing speed and overtaking opportunities. Despite the night racing, air temperatures remain above 30°C with around 80% humidity, placing significant stress on brakes and power units, requiring efficient cooling systems. The circuit is illuminated by approximately 1,600 custom floodlights, four times brighter than a standard sports stadium, ensuring optimal visibility and broadcast quality. The pit lane speed limit has been increased from 60 to 80 km/h, potentially reducing pit stop delays by up to six seconds.
Current Standings and Championship Outlook
Oscar Piastri leads the Drivers' Championship with 324 points, ahead of teammate Lando Norris on 299, while Max Verstappen sits third with 255 points. McLaren leads the Constructors' Championship with 623 points, followed by Mercedes (290) and Ferrari (286). The Singapore GP is critical for Verstappen, who has won on every circuit on the 2025 calendar except Marina Bay, intensifying the F1 narrative around his quest for a clean sweep. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are battling for fourth in the standings, adding intrigue to the midfield fight.
