Reports indicate that former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli is currently facing major financial difficulties. According to a media report, Kambli has been without a phone for the past six months. Though he had an iPhone, the phone was taken by a shop owner as Kambl failed to pay ₹15,000 for repairs.

Kambli, who receives ₹30,000 monthly pension from the BCCI, had also recently received ₹5 lakh assistance from a political party. However, his wife Andrea Hewitt revealed that they owe ₹18 lakh in maintenance fees for their house to the housing society, putting them at risk of losing their home at any moment.

Although Kambli had faced hardships before, including medical assistance, several former cricketers and others had extended their help.

Kambli, who had been in hospital for two weeks, was discharged from a private hospital in Bhivandi, Thane district, on Wednesday afternoon. He had been admitted due to a urinary tract infection, and further investigations revealed that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Hospital authorities confirmed that he has now fully recovered. In his New Year message, Kambli also urged others to completely abandon alcohol and drugs.
