Kozhikode: The most anticipated Prime Volleyball League arrives with a lot of excitement from fans. For Kerala, two teams from the state will compete in the competition and seven Malayalee coaches will also be testing their prowess in the league.
Former Indian star player Kishore Kumar is the head coach of Calicut Heroes. The Kozhikode native is a regular member of the Indian national team from 1992 to 2005. Even though he was part of the coaching staff last year, it was only recently that he was appointed as the head coach. He was coaching the team as a mentor.
CV Najeev is the co-coach of Calicut Heroes. Najeeb has coached the Calicut University team for over ten years.
Sunny Joseph, the former head coach of the national volleyball team, is leading the Kolkata Thunderbolt. He has coached the national team 13 times in the women's, men's and junior categories. Sunny Joseph, who has won several accolades as coach of the state team, is coming to the league for the first time.
Former player of Services Siju K Jose is the assistant coach of the Kolkata Thunderbolt. He has previously coached at GV Raja Sports School.
Tom Joseph, former star player and Arjun award recipient is the assistant coach of the Hyderabad Black Hawks. This is his first time in the league as a coach. He is currently coaching the Kochi Bharat Petroleum team.
ST Harilal and Bobby Xavier are the assistant coaches of Blue Spikers.
The league will kickstart on February 5 and will be held until Feb 21. The finals will be on February 27.
