Kochi: An international cricket stadium will soon come up at Nedumbassery. The new stadium, constructed by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), will be built near National Highway 544 at Athani.
According to reports, KCA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a consortium of private parties to acquire land. The state government will announce the project as part of the Sports City Project.
A total of 60 acres of land will be acquired for the project, including the area to set up training facilities and other amenities. KCA has been planning to construct a new stadium for the past few years.
During a visit to Kochi, BCCI secretary Jay Shah proposed that the site in Nedumbassery would be excellent for building a stadium. Furthermore, a stadium near the airport will shorten travel time.
