Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, came close to pole with a late flying lap that placed him second on the grid, underlining Ferrari’s improved qualifying pace. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli, also in a Mercedes, secured third place after being pushed down in the final moments of the session despite a strong performance.
