New Delhi: India added seven medals on Day 9 of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, taking its overall tally to 37 medals- four gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze. India is currently 12th in the standings.

India's medal haul on Sunday included historic silver medals for Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh in women's and men's singles squash. Ancy Sojan also won silver in women's long jump, while Sarvesh Kushare claimed silver in men's high jump.

Harita Bhadra won bronze in the women's 200m, while Tejaswin Shankar secured bronze in the men's decathlon. Parul Chaudhary added another bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

The seven-medal haul, however, did not include a gold, and India slipped from 10th to 12th in the standings as countries above it added gold medals.

India's Day 9 haul of seven medals included four silver and three bronze medals, taking its overall tally to 37.

China remained firmly atop the table after crossing the 200-medal mark, with 119 gold, 48 silver and 38 bronze for a total of 205 medals. Japan and South Korea occupied second and third positions respectively.

Squash

Anahat Singh — Silver, women's singles

Anahat became the first Indian woman to reach an Asian Games squash singles final. She finished with silver after losing to Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam.

Abhay Singh — Silver, men's singles

Abhay Singh also secured silver after losing the men's singles final to Malaysia's Ng Eain Yow. The two results gave India a historic pair of squash singles medals.

Athletics

Ancy Sojan — Silver, women's long jump

Ancy Sojan produced a best jump of 6.53m to take silver. China's Huang Yingying won gold with a late 6.55m effort.

Sarvesh Kushare — Silver, men's high jump

Sarvesh cleared 2.25m to finish second in the men's high jump.

Harita Bhadra — Bronze, women's 200m

Harita clocked 23.20 seconds to win bronze in the 200m final.

Tejaswin Shankar — Bronze, men's decathlon

Tejaswin finished third with 7,934 points to claim the decathlon bronze.

Parul Chaudhary — Bronze, women's 3000m steeplechase

Parul secured bronze with a personal-best 9:08.67.

India’s gold medals so far

India's four gold medals have come from women's cricket, mixed-team shooting and the men's and women's kabaddi teams.

The women's cricket team won India's first gold of the Games by defeating Sri Lanka in the T20 final, while Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the mixed-team 10m air pistol gold. India's men's and women's kabaddi teams then successfully defended their Asian Games titles against Iran.

With the competition continuing, India will look to add to its four-gold, 16-silver and 17-bronze haul in the remaining days of the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
