England finished top of Group L with seven points after victories over Croatia and Panama, along with a goalless draw against Ghana. The Three Lions then came from behind to beat DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32, with a late winner sealing their place in the last 16.
How did Mexico reach the Round of 16?
Mexico topped Group A with a perfect nine points, defeating South Africa, South Korea and Czechia. El Tri then beat Ecuador 2-0 in the Round of 32 to register their first FIFA World Cup knockout-stage victory since 1986.

Kick off delayed
Kick-off between Mexico and England has been delayed by one hour due to adverse weather conditions in Mexico City. FIFA said the delay was caused by the risk of lightning near the stadium, with the Round of 16 clash now set to kick off at 7:00 pm local time (9:00 pm EDT, 6:30 AM IST).
