Kaká represented AC Milan across two spells, from 2003 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2014. He stands as one of the most decorated figures in the club's history, having secured a Serie A title, the UEFA Champions League, and the prestigious Ballon d'Or award during his initial stint with the Rossoneri.

The legendary Brazilian's inaugural goal against Inter arrived in October 2003, helping propel the club to a 3-2 victory.

In a letter addressed to the supporters ahead of the fixture, Kaká said, as quoted by Goal.com: "Dear Milan fans, the derby match will remain etched in my memory, and scoring my first goal during it was truly a unique feeling. Some magical moments are unforgettable, and some kinds of love never end."

He added: "Forza Milan!"

As Kaká accepted the honour, he was moved to tears after being greeted by a rousing reception from the home supporters.

Turning to the match itself, AC Milan extended their unbeaten streak over arch-rivals Inter Milan with a 3-1 victory in their Serie A encounter on Saturday.

With this result, the side managed by Rúben Amorim remains undefeated in their last eight 'Derby di Milano' fixtures across all competitions, recording six victories and two draws.

AC Milan established a swift two-goal cushion inside the opening 10 minutes. United States international Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the fourth minute, before Adrien Rabiot doubled the lead in the 10th minute. Both goals were set up by assists from Diego Moreira.

In the 22nd minute, Alessandro Bastoni met a delivery from Manuel Akanji to direct a header into the net, offering Inter Milan a temporary lifeline.

However, in the 43rd minute, Moreira added a third goal to his two earlier assists, extending the scoreline to 3-1 before the interval.

Throughout the second half, Inter Milan were restricted to limited clear-cut opportunities despite attempting 19 shots in total. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan produced a series of fine saves as Inter struggled to mount a comeback, leaving the final scoreline unaltered.
