Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is on the brink of securing a loan move to Aston Villa for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer, according to multiple media reports.

Aston Villa will reportedly cover three-quarters of Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wages, a significant financial commitment as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The deal includes a purchase option, giving Villa the opportunity to sign the England international permanently at the end of the season.

Should Villa choose not to activate the clause, Rashford will return to Old Trafford in the summer.

United's decision and other interested clubs

Rashford, 27, has found himself sidelined at Manchester United under new head coach Ruben Amorim. Sources close to the situation revealed that Rashford preferred a move to Barcelona, but the LaLiga club’s financial difficulties complicated any potential transfer.

Borussia Dortmund also showed interest, but his £350,000-a-week wage demands have proven to be a major stumbling block.

Aston Villa also close to signing Marco Asensio on loan

Meanwhile, Villa have agreed a separate loan deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Marco Asensio. Sources indicate that the move does not include a purchase option and is unrelated to the Rashford deal.

Asensio, who joined PSG from Real Madrid in 2023, is expected to bolster Villa’s squad as they push for European qualification and Champions League progress.
