Kochi: Just have a look at the statistics of Kerala Blasters under the ousted Swedish coach Mikael Stahre. During his tenure, Kerala Blasters played 12 matches, winning three and earning 11 points. Under the Malayali coach Puroshothaman, they played four matches, winning three and earning nine points. The change in attitude and result are there for all to see.

When looking at the winning percentage, Puroshothaman is ahead. Therefore, the management has decided that Puroshothaman will continue as the coach for this season. The management feels that spending a large sum of money on a new coach this season would not be wise enough. Although names like Sergio Lobera, the coach of Odisha FC, were being heard for the Blasters' coaching position, it is now confirmed that the team will not pursue those options immediately, based on Puroshothaman's performance.

The thrilling victory against Odisha FC, achieved during injury time, also secures Puroshothaman’s position. The same confidence was displayed by him after the match when he met the media.

Montenegro star Dušan Lagator has been brought into the team during the January transfer window to strengthen the Blasters' playoff chances. Puroshothaman and the team have brought Dušan in after analyzing his tactical skills and aerial ball prowess. Dušan, who arrived in Kochi early on Thursday, has joined the team. However, Dušan will not be part of the playing squad for the match against NorthEast United on Saturday.

Police intervention against fans: Management clarifies no involvement

Kochi: The Kerala Blasters management clarified that they had no involvement in the police intervention during the fans' protest. The club said that they do not have the authority to instruct the police in matters of maintaining law and order. The police actions during the fan protests that took place during the match against Odisha FC in Kochi were not initiated by the club. Any reports suggesting that the club instructed the police are false and misleading. The club also confirmed that action will be taken against those spreading false rumors.

The management said that fans have the right to peacefully express their opinion and that protests in public places, as long as they do not pose a security threat, should not be suppressed.
