Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally broke their 18-year IPL title drought by defeating Punjab Kings in a dramatic final in Ahmedabad.

While the city of Bengaluru erupted in celebration, scenes from Kalaburagi's SVP Chowk turned chaotic as police were forced to intervene, using lathis to disperse the surging crowd.

According to viral videos on social media, hundreds of RCB supporters had gathered in spontaneous street celebrations, chanting, waving flags, and halting traffic. As the atmosphere turned uncontrollable, police moved in with batons, attempting to clear the area.

Though no major injuries were reported, the police response has drawn criticism online, with many accusing authorities of using excessive force on peaceful fans.

Despite the clashes, many fans remained undeterred, continuing to celebrate well into the night. The iconic chant "Ee Sala Cup Namde" echoed through the city as RCB supporters marked the historic win.

Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB defended 190 against Punjab Kings to seal the title at the Narendra Modi Stadium. While the win was hailed across India, the events in Kalaburagi have sparked debate over public celebration and policing.

The team’s official victory parade is scheduled for Wednesday, with fans expected to turn up in large numbers once again—this time hopefully with celebrations staying peaceful.
