Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has said the franchise removed silver from its playing jersey after a directive from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which raised visibility concerns with the white cricket ball.

Responding to a fan interaction on social media platform X on Monday, Zinta said the change was made after teams complained that silver tones made it difficult to sight the ball during matches. “Silver got banned by the BCCI cuz teams complained they could not see the white ball against the silver ! I miss the silver too!,” she posted during an impromptu Q&A session.

The clarification came after a fan urged the franchise to bring back its earlier red-and-silver look, which had become popular during the team’s early IPL seasons. Punjab Kings previously wore a red-and-grey combination before switching to a red-and-blue kit in recent years.

According to Zinta, the league’s governing body discouraged the use of white, grey, and silver shades in playing kits due to visibility issues under floodlights and against the white ball used in limited-overs cricket.

Punjab Kings have since adopted a redesigned uniform featuring a red jersey paired with blue trousers, which is now their standard on-field appearance.

On the field, Punjab Kings are enjoying a strong run in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The franchise is currently unbeaten in its last seven fixtures, with six wins and one match washed out, placing them at the top of the points table with 13 points.
