Forty years after Diego Maradona's 1986 FIFA World Cup performance, sportswear brand ‘Le Coq Sportif’ has launched a special capsule collection celebrating one of football's most iconic and controversial moments.

Released in collaboration with Maradona Official, the brand managed by the football legend's heirs, the collection marks the anniversary of Argentina's famous quarter-final victory over England at Mexico's Azteca Stadium. It was on June 22, 1986, that Maradona scored the infamous "Hand of God" goal before producing what is widely regarded as the greatest goal in World Cup history just four minutes later.

The collection highlights Maradona's influence on sport, fashion and culture. ‘Le Coq Sportif’, the French sportswear label founded in 1882, describes the collaboration as a celebration of football's ability to transcend the pitch and become part of global culture.

The eight-piece collection draws inspiration from Argentina's 1986 World Cup kit, featuring off-white, sky blue and deep slate blue tones. Blending vintage football aesthetics with modern streetwear, the pieces are designed to appeal to both football fans and fashion enthusiasts.

The launch also represents the first major project from Maradona Official, with his children, Dalma, Gianinna, Diego Jr., Jana and Diego Fernando working together to preserve and share their father's legacy with a new generation.
