Four US cricketers of Pakistani origin — Ali Khan, Shayan Jahangir, Mohammad Mohsin, and Ehsan Adil — are awaiting visa clearance to travel to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. As per a Cricbuzz report, the players, currently in Sri Lanka with the USA squad for pre-tournament preparations, attended their visa appointments at the Indian High Commission in Colombo on January 13. While visas were not issued immediately, there has been no formal rejection, and the applications remain under standard government review. ICC officials confirmed all required documentation was submitted ahead of time.

According to Cricbuzz, additional inputs from India’s Ministry of External Affairs are still awaited. Once the review is complete, the players will be contacted to proceed. Officials reportedly stated that the process is routine for special-category cases, especially for players of Pakistani origin, and follows standard government protocols.

The situation gained attention after Ali Khan mentioned a “visa denial” on social media. Historically, similar procedures have applied to international players such as Moeen Ali, Shoaib Bashir, and Usman Khawaja. These protocols are consistent across all World Cup teams, including UAE, Canada, Oman, and Italy, ensuring multiple departmental clearances before players enter India. (With inputs from Agencies)
