India Under-19 sealed a commanding 58-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan Under-19 to progress to the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, setting up a last-four clash with Afghanistan on Sunday.

The Ayush Mhatre-led side delivered a disciplined all-round performance at Queens Sports Club, ensuring Pakistan failed to meet the required chase of 253 runs within 33.3 overs — a scenario that would have kept them in contention for the semi-finals. Instead, Pakistan were dismissed for 194, ending their campaign at the tournament.

India’s innings was built around a patient knock from Vedant Trivedi, who anchored the effort with a composed 68 from 98 deliveries. While the total of 252 appeared modest on a surface offering assistance to bowlers, late momentum proved crucial. All-rounders Kanishk Chouhan and Khilan Patel provided the decisive push, adding a brisk 50-run partnership in just over five overs. Chouhan struck 35 from 29 balls, while Patel remained unbeaten on 21 off 15, helping India finish strongly.

Pakistan’s reply never found sustained rhythm. Although they showed early intent, regular wickets stalled the chase, and the required rate steadily climbed. India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout, exploiting disciplined lines and fielding sharply to deny Pakistan any chance of a late surge.

The comprehensive win not only secured India’s place in the final four but also knocked Pakistan out of the competition. India will now turn their attention to Afghanistan Under-19 in the semi-final, as they continue their pursuit of another Under-19 World Cup title. (With inputs from Agencies)
