Dubai: In a thrilling Asia Cup final clash between India and Pakistan, Jasprit Bumrah made headlines not just for his lethal yorker that dismissed Haris Rauf, but for the viral “aeroplane crash” celebration that followed, sparking social media frenzy and igniting fierce fan reactions.

The moment unfolded in the 18th over at Dubai International Cricket Stadium when Bumrah delivered a pinpoint yorker that uprooted Rauf’s off stump, ending his innings abruptly. Immediately after, Bumrah mimicked a fighter jet crashing, a sharp, cheeky retort to Rauf’s earlier provocative fighter-jet gestures during the Super Four stage clash between the rivals, where Rauf had mocked Indian fans with “0-6” and a dipping aircraft gesture referencing Pakistan’s disputed claims of downing six Indian jets in cross-border tensions earlier this year.

The Indian pacer, undeterred by potential penalties, owned the moment with a grin, turning it into a standout highlight of the tournament’s intense rivalry.

The dismissal, a textbook yorker, saw Rauf wildly missing the ball as it clattered into the stumps, leaving Pakistan reeling at 141 for nine wickets. Bumrah finished with two wickets for 25 runs.

The Bharat Army, the official Team India Supporters Group, which often goes to the team's matches to cheer for them in large numbers, also posted the celebration on their X, saying, "Wicket Down", using a wink emoji.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, also known for his back-and-forth exchanges with Pakistan players, also posted on X, "Flight land Kara di Bumrah ne (Bumrah made the flight land).

India won the match by 5 wickets following the heroics of Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube during the second innings.
