Indian badminton player Ashmita Chaliha secured her first BWF World Tour crown on Sunday, coming from behind to overcome China's Han Qianxi 14-21, 21-14, 21-14 in the women's singles final of the Korea Masters.

The 26-year-old mounted a spirited recovery following the loss of the opening game to earn a landmark triumph, becoming just the fifth Indian female shuttler to capture a BWF World Tour Super 300 or higher-tier championship.

Chaliha matched Han during the early exchanges of the opening game, with the score level at 11-11. However, the Chinese player accelerated her pace, claiming a succession of points to take command before wrapping up the set 21-14.

The Indian player responded forcefully in the second game, unleashing several potent winners and demonstrating resolute defensive play to establish an 11-8 advantage at the interval. She sustained her lead, extending her cushion to seven points at 17-10 before finishing the game 21-14 with a powerful smash to take the match to a decider.

The final game featured intense rallies as both players contested every exchange. The Chinese opponent held a narrow edge initially, leading 11-9 at the interval.

Chaliha elevated her play in the closing stages of the final set, recovering the lead through accurate placement and aggressive attacking shots. A precise winner put her ahead 12-11 before she pushed her lead to 15-11 with a shot landing just inside the line.

Chaliha maintained her authority in the final moments, extending her lead to 19-14 with a cross-court winner. Han then hit her return wide, conceding the match and handing Chaliha the premier accolade of her career.

With the triumph, Chaliha joined Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Devika Sihag, and Tanvi Sharma as the only Indian women to secure a BWF World Tour Super 300 or higher title.

The Korea Masters success marks Chaliha's maiden BWF World Tour title following her resolute comeback against the world No. 35 Chinese player.
