London: India's captain Rohit Sharma was present at the Centre Court on Friday for the first semi-final match of Wimbledon 2024, featuring Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz.

The World Cup-winning Indian cricket team captain said he was thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere at Wimbledon, as it was his first time at the grand event.

"Welcome to #Wimbledon, Rohit Sharma," the official X handle of Wimbledon while sharing the picture of the Team India skipper.

“I know how it feels to be on the field when there are 50,000 people watching you. For a change, here I am one among the spectators. The vibe is electric. In cricket, we say 'may the best team win'; similarly, may the best player emerge victorious today,” Rohit said on the occasion.

Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, accompanied by his wife Dipika Pallikal, also attended the first semi-final of Wimbledon 2024 at Centre Court on Friday.

Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, secured his spot in the tournament final by defeating Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in a closely contested match. Despite losing the first set dominated by Medvedev, Alcaraz staged a comeback, winning the next three sets. In the Wimbledon 2024 final, he will face Serbia’s Novak Djokovic. Agencies
