An enthralling Wimbledon men's singles final came to an end on Sunday with Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz defeating veteran Novak Djokovic to secure the prestigious title.

This is Alcaraz's second consecutive Wimbledon final win and his fourth Slam title overall. He achieved a straight-sets victory, defeating Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

It was a rematch of last year's championship match on the grass of the All England Club, which Alcaraz won in five sets.

This year's final was much easier for Alcaraz, at least until he stumbled while holding three match points as he served for the victory at 5-4 in the third set.

Still, Alcaraz regrouped and eventually picked up a second major trophy in a row after last month's triumph on the clay at the French Open. The Spaniard won his first Slam title at the 2022 US Open as a teenager, and no man has ever collected more Slam hardware before turning 22 than he has. He improved to 4-0 in major finals.

The final, set against the backdrop of Catherine, Princess of Wales's attendance, marks a poignant occasion amidst her recovery from cancer. Djokovic, appearing in his 10th Wimbledon final and 37th overall major final, aimed to surpass Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam titles with a win. However, Alcaraz's impressive performance thwarted Djokovic's quest for this historic achievement.

For Djokovic, the journey to this final has been arduous. He arrived at Wimbledon with doubts about his form and fitness, having not reached a final earlier in the season and recovering from surgery just weeks prior.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz, 16 years Djokovic's junior and seeking his second major title, faced a formidable challenge. Despite Djokovic's recent victories over Alcaraz, including a significant win at the Cincinnati Open and in the ATP Tour Finals, Alcaraz remained undeterred.
