Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz on winning his second consecutive Wimbledon title on Sunday.

Alcaraz clinched the victory by defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at the Centre Court in London.

Taking to his official X account, Tendulkar praised Alcaraz for his straight-sets win against the formidable Djokovic. He also commended Djokovic for his sportsmanship in both victory and defeat.

"From now on, Alcaraz will reign supreme in tennis. Winning the @Wimbledon finals in straight sets against a world-class opponent is no small feat. His speed, power, precision, and energy indicate a promising future. Hats off to @DjokerNole for his sportsmanship in victory and defeat, which epitomises a true champion," Tendulkar wrote on X.

Recapping the Wimbledon 2024 final, Alcaraz dominated from the start, claiming the first set 6-2 after securing a double break. He continued his momentum in the second set, also winning it 6-2, while Djokovic struggled to mount a comeback.

In the third set, Djokovic showed resilience, but Alcaraz maintained his composure. The match intensified and eventually went into a tiebreak, which Alcaraz won 7-4.

Alcaraz's stellar performance culminated in a straight-sets victory, securing the Wimbledon 2024 title decisively. ANI
