Thiruvananthapuram: Actress Shweta Tripathi, known for her portrayal of Golu Gupta in 'Mirzapur', shared her thoughts on societal judgment, changes, and perseverance while speaking at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters. She emphasised the importance of allowing individuals to be their authentic selves without fear of criticism or judgment.
When asked about the change she's waiting for, she said that rather than changing the world, its high time we sit and understand what are the things we'd like to change about ourselves. And what we can do to be that change.
"The change I want to bring in myself is more discipline in life. And the one change i want to see in the world is, let's stop judging and pointing fingers at others. Let people be and figure out who they want to be and let's celebrate that. Instead of pulling people down, let's hold hands and cheer," she said, advocating for greater acceptance and individuality in society.
Encouraging people to follow their passions, Shweta urged them not to compromise on their dreams or be deterred by obstacles.
"Don't compromise on dreams. Don't be scared. Burst your bubbles and come out. The path will be filled with obstacles. But move forward without getting discouraged. Learn lessons from every failure. Correct your mistakes and move forward. Also, patience is important," she advised.
Highlighting the significance of education and equality, she added, "Don't forget to read. Education is important. Colour, religion, etc., are irrelevant. Violence against women should be questioned, whether it is in school, on the set, or anywhere. Do what you want to do without fear."
Shweta also expressed her interest in working in Malayalam cinema and collaborating with actors from the industry. She further stated that regardless of the language, she wishes to dub for her character herself. She shared her love for South Indian cuisine, saying she enjoys dishes like idlis and dosa.
