Kozhikode: With the names of the electoral bond buyers out in the open, CPM State secretary M V Govindan claimed that the Left parties in the country have an accurate record of money transactions. It is the BJP which does not have any such records, he said, flaying that no income tax rules are applicable to the BJP. The senior CPM leader was speaking at the LDF convention here.
The CPM had earlier received a tax-recovery notice of Rs 15 crore from the Income Tax Department, pointing out a discrepancy between the figures submitted before the Election Commission and the collected amount, Govindan said and added that this matter is now under litigation at the Kerala High Court.
“The Left parties always have accurate records of money transactions. The BJP is the one which does not give any details. Everyone now knows the Income tax Department just as they know the Enforcement Directorate,” Govindan said. He also alleged that a senior Congress leader’s husband was caught in a financial case, however, the case was dropped after he gave funds to the BJP.
“The Congress won’t have any difficulty in paying off the money in compliance with the IT Department notice. That party claims that it has no money to purchase tickets. Then where did the Rs 2000 crore received through electoral bonds go,” Govindan sought to know.
