Shwetha, a student in the eighth grade at GHSS Panamattom in Kottayam has been passionately contributing to the Handicraft exhibition at Kalolsavam venue with her handmade products. She had started making them when she was young and had proceeded to create a variety of handicrafts out of almost everything. She began by making paper crafts while watching her sister's works; later she also enjoyed making several with her father's guidance.

She has never had the chance to present her art outside of her school because there are no competitions for it, but State Youth Festival has opened up a new avenue for her to pursue it. She passionately participates in every competition offered at the school level and bagged prizes. Her teachers encouraged her to enter the exhibition as she had already received multiple honours for her handicrafts.

"I am delighted that people are recognizing and appreciating the work that I have done," she exclaimed.

Numerous customers have been showering appreciation for her after their purchase. She doesn't have a lot of free time, but she pursues this after school as a hobby. She has been creating crafts out of wood, paper, cardboard, sticks, coconut shells, paper cups, and many other materials. Her wooden housing boat which was created with the utmost precision has become the centre of attraction at the exhibition. She didn't realize how well-received her little pieces would be. She boldly asserted that one day she would create brand-new handicrafts and make everyone incredibly proud as if now she has no other specific plans for the future with this.

Shweta is also planning to market her handmade items online. The ambitious girl says that she will save money from the exhibition for her future venture. Apart from making handicrafts, Shweta is also passionate about painting. Her parents also joined her at the exhibition to show their support. With great hope, Shwetha added, "The spirit that keeps me going is the encouragement from my teachers and school.”
