The Powerball jackpot has reached $1.1 billion, after no ticket matched all six winning numbers in Monday night’s draw.

The winning numbers were: 8, 23, 25, 40, 53, and the Powerball number was 5.

Since May 31, no one has hit the jackpot, causing it to grow steadily over the past three months. If someone had matched all six numbers on Monday, they could have chosen to receive the full amount in 30 yearly payments or a one-time lump sum of $498.4 million, both amounts before taxes.

The odds of winning the jackpot remain extremely slim, just 1 in 292.2 million, making it far more likely to be struck by lightning. Still, the massive prize keeps attracting millions of hopeful players every week.

Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 US states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET (8:29 am IST), from the Florida Lottery’s studio in Tallahassee.

Powerball's big winners

The last Powerball jackpot winner was on May 31, when a single ticket in California claimed a $204.5 million prize (cash value: $91.6 million). Historically, four of the five billion-dollar Powerball jackpots have been won in California, including the record-breaking $2.04 billion ticket sold in Altadena in 2022.

Your next chance to win

The next drawing will be held on Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Until then, the jackpot remains up for grabs and continues to grow.
