The US has warned Americans across the Middle East of possible attacks, flight cancellations and airspace closures amid reports of fresh strikes near Iran's Qeshm Island.

The United States has issued fresh security warnings for Americans across the Middle East, urging them to remain on high alert amid fears of a further escalation in the conflict involving Iran. The advisory warns of possible armed attacks, flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions across the region.
The warning covers Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Lebanon. The US Department of State's Consular Affairs division said Americans in the region faced an increased threat of attacks by Iranian-supported Houthi forces and efforts by Iran to target US government officials.
"Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the increased threat of armed attacks by Iranian-supported Houthis and Iranian efforts to target U.S. government officials in the region," the department said in a post on X.
It also urged Americans to remain alert to possible changes in flight schedules and airspace restrictions, warning that the security situation could escalate rapidly.
The fresh warning comes amid reports of another military confrontation around Iran's Qeshm Island, near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported on Friday that two missiles had struck the island, citing initial reports. The development followed earlier US strikes on Qeshm, which American officials had described as limited defensive operations targeting Iranian military assets.
Initial reports on the latest incident claimed that a US fighter jet struck an Iranian surface-to-air missile launcher after a missile was fired towards the aircraft. However, the circumstances surrounding the reported exchange and the extent of any damage have not been independently confirmed.
Iranian state media also reported explosions on the island. Further details about the latest incident were awaited.
The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue to find a way to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran. However, the latest reports of military activity and the expanded security warnings have renewed concerns about the possibility of another escalation in the Middle East.
