Claymont: A University of Delaware student, Luqmaan Khan, 25, was arrested after police discovered a handgun, ammunition, and written plans for an attack in his vehicle, which included references to "martyrdom" and identified a campus police officer as a target, authorities said.

An FBI complaint revealed that Khan's notebook contained writings on "urban warfare" along with combat tactics and a sketch of the University of Delaware Police Department building. A home search subsequently uncovered a scoped rifle, body armour, and a handgun modified with an illegal machine gun conversion device known as a "switch."

Khan was taken into federal custody following his November 24 arrest in Wilmington after New Castle County police stopped him for illegal parking. Authorities noted he seemed nervous and uncooperative during the encounter. A search of his vehicle revealed the weapon, a firearm brace kit, and the notebook outlining attack plans.

Khan reportedly stated that becoming a martyr is "one of the greatest things you can do," according to the FBI. Special Agent in Charge Jimmy Paul praised the New Castle County Police Department for their actions in preventing harm.

Khan, a Wilmington resident with no prior arrests, is scheduled for a detention hearing on December 11. His federal public defender, Eleni Kousoulis, did not immediately respond to inquiries.
