Netherlands: At the NATO summit in The Hague on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump insisted that American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities had completely destroyed key components of Tehran’s atomic infrastructure. Trump specifically cited reports from Israeli intelligence agents who allegedly inspected the Fordow uranium enrichment site and confirmed its "total obliteration."

Trump dismissed US media reports—including those by CNN and The New York Times—that suggested the attacks merely delayed Iran’s nuclear programme by a few months, saying: “We set Iran back decades… They’re not going to have a bomb and they’re not going to enrich.”

Trump described the strike as “very severe,” and claimed that “the bombs landed where they were supposed to land.” However, intelligence assessments within the US have remained inconclusive, with internal reports indicating that most centrifuges remained intact and enriched uranium stockpiles were untouched.

Despite this, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth reiterated Trump’s stance, noting that initial intelligence was “of low reliability”, but "devastation" had been observed.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, also present in The Hague, echoed this sentiment, stating: “The bottom line is, they are much further away from a nuclear weapon today than they were before.”

In a separate remark, Trump said that the airstrikes had “ended the war”, and described the current ceasefire with Iran as “going great”, despite Tehran’s brief violation a day earlier.

Trump also remarked: “Iran and Israel have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f--- they’re doing.”

Meanwhile, US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, demanded an investigation into the leak of classified assessments that contradicted the White House’s public narrative. He described the leak as “treasonous” and called for accountability.

An IDF spokesperson, responding to queries about the strike's effectiveness, stated:

“We met all the objectives of the operation as defined for us — but it is still too early to determine the results of the damage.”

The IDF added that the strike is believed to have set back Iran’s nuclear programme by years, although precise verification is pending.

This comes amid renewed fears of Iran rebuilding its uranium enrichment facilities, prompting Trump to affirm that the US “would attack again” if necessary.
