Ukraine’s air force said Russian drones entered NATO-member Poland’s airspace overnight, threatening the city of Zamosc, according to Reuters

Ukrainian media also reported several drone crossings, but Poland has not confirmed any such incursions. According to media reports, at least four airports are shut following orders from the military.

Polish and allied aircraft were scrambled early on Wednesday to safeguard Poland's airspace.

"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness," the operational command of the Polish armed forces said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, Russia’s fresh attacks on Ukraine earlier today forced Poland to suspend flights at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport and three other airports.

A Notice to Airmen posted on the US Federal Aviation Administration website cited "unplanned military activity related to ensuring state security," CNN reported.

What did the Polish military say?

In an official statement, the Polish military confirmed the activation of all necessary defensive procedures. “Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness," the statement read.
