Moscow: Russia launched a combined missile and drone attack targeting suburbs of Kyiv, Ukraine, resulting in at least one death, according to Ukraine’s Emergency Service.

The strike caused destruction and fires across five suburban districts surrounding Kyiv, including Obukhiv, Brovary, Boryspil, Bucha and Fastiv.

Emergency responders reported rescuing eight people from collapsed structures, including one child, after parts of residential buildings were destroyed.

In the village of Putrivka in Fastiv district, rescue teams worked through debris to locate trapped civilians following the airstrike damage.

Separately, Russian forces also targeted energy infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region, triggering significant fires that were later brought under control by emergency crews.

The attack is part of the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict, which has continued for nearly four years. Despite international peace initiatives led by the United States and allies, civilian areas in Ukraine have repeatedly faced aerial assaults.

Russian strikes have increasingly focused on Ukraine’s energy network, particularly during winter months, causing widespread electricity and heating disruptions for civilians.

Authorities are continuing rescue and damage assessment operations.
