At least eight people were injured on Tuesday afternoon after a blast occurred outside a local court in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

The cause of the explosion remains unclear. Preliminary reports in local media suggested that a gas cylinder might have exploded inside a vehicle parked near the court, but police have not confirmed this version.

Officials said investigations were underway to determine the exact cause. The blast site — located outside a bustling court complex frequented by lawyers, litigants, and visitors — was quickly cordoned off by security forces as rescue teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals.

The incident took place just a day after a similar car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort in India left at least 13 people dead. Authorities in both countries are probing the incidents separately, though there is no immediate indication of any link between the two.

Meanwhile, in another security development, Pakistani forces reportedly thwarted a militant attack on an army-run college in Wana city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghan border.

According to the Associated Press, a suicide car bomber and five members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attempted to storm the college in an overnight assault.

The attackers were neutralised before they could inflict major damage. Wana has long been regarded as a stronghold for TTP, al-Qaida, and other extremist outfits.
