Riyadh: Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, earned Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian distinction, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence.

Munir is currently on an official trip to the Kingdom.

“Under a Royal Decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s highest national honour, was also conferred upon the Field Marshal,” the army announced Monday.

Saudi officials praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s expertise and visionary approach, highlighting his dedication to bolstering the deep-rooted, fraternal relations between the nations.

Field Marshal Munir thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Saudi authorities for the accolade, viewing it as emblematic of the lasting alliance between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to uphold the Kingdom’s security, stability, and advancement.

Munir additionally met Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defence, during his Kingdom itinerary.

The session covered topics of shared concern, such as regional security landscapes, military and defence partnerships, strategic alliances, and shifting geopolitical pressures.
