New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was reportedly critically injured in a shooting in Midtown Manhattan early Sunday morning, according to The New York Post, citing police and sources familiar with the investigation.

The incident occurred around 2 am on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, an area just steps away from the Times Square district.

Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound and rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

While the NYPD has not officially confirmed the victim’s identity, multiple sources told the outlet that the injured man is NFL player Kris Boyd, who signed with the New York Jets earlier this season.

Police have not released details about a suspect, motive, or the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing potential witnesses. The Jets have not stated anything as of yet.

The investigation remains active, and further updates are expected as police confirm the victim’s identity and determine what triggered the violence in one of Manhattan’s busiest corridors.
