Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that he underwent treatment for prostate cancer and is currently healthy.

This marks the first time Netanyahu has publicly confirmed the diagnosis. He stated that he had undergone prostate surgery around a year and a half ago, and more recently received radiation therapy after doctors discovered and treated a small tumour at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu said the condition was kept private for a period, explaining that he requested a delay in disclosure during a sensitive phase of regional conflict. He described the issue as a minor medical condition and said he is now in stable health.

The Israeli leader also clarified that the tumour was detected early during routine medical follow-ups and was treated promptly. Medical experts cited in reports noted that prostate cancer is relatively common among men in his age group, and early detection often leads to successful treatment outcomes.

According to statements from Hadassah Hospital’s oncology department, the condition was diagnosed at an early stage and treated effectively, with follow-up tests indicating no remaining signs of disease.

Netanyahu’s health had previously been the subject of public speculation during heightened regional tensions, particularly during the Israel–Iran conflict period, when misinformation and AI-generated claims circulated online.

Following his announcement, Netanyahu said he has resumed normal duties and considers the issue resolved, stating that he is now in good health after completing treatment.
