Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly living in secrecy at an undisclosed location with extremely limited communication access, as ongoing peace negotiations with the United States continue to face delays.

Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly staying at an undisclosed location under strict security measures, according to a CBS News report citing US intelligence officials.
The report claimed that even senior Iranian officials do not know his exact whereabouts and cannot contact him directly. Communication with the supreme leader is reportedly conducted through a complex network of couriers designed to conceal his location.

Peace negotiations reportedly slowed by communication delays
According to US officials quoted in the report, the difficulty in reaching Mojtaba Khamenei has become a major obstacle in ongoing peace negotiations involving the Trump administration.
Officials reportedly said that responses from the Iranian leadership often take significant time because proposals and messages must move through multiple intermediaries before reaching the supreme leader.
One official described the communication system as highly delayed, stating that every response received is already “dated” by the time it arrives.
Security concerns intensified after Operation Epic Fury
The report stated that Mojtaba Khamenei adopted extreme security precautions following American and Israeli military strikes during Operation Epic Fury.
According to US intelligence sources, the operation resulted in major losses within Iran’s senior leadership structure. Officials reportedly claimed intelligence gathered from inside Iran played a significant role in locating key figures during the conflict.
The report also stated that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured during the strikes and has since avoided appearing publicly in live events.
Iranian media continues to publish statements attributed to him
Although Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly not been seen publicly since before the conflict began, Iranian state-linked media outlets continue to publish statements attributed to him on a regular basis.
The secrecy surrounding his location has fuelled international speculation about the internal functioning of Iran’s leadership during a sensitive geopolitical period.
CBS News reported that many high-ranking Iranian officials themselves allegedly lack direct communication channels with the supreme leader.
Instead, messages are passed through specially organised courier networks aimed at preventing foreign intelligence agencies from tracing his movements or location.
The developments come as diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States continue amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing security concerns.
