A second shooting involving federal law enforcement has been reported in Minneapolis, just a week after an ICE officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good.

Another shooting linked to federal authorities has been reported in Minneapolis, just a week after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer intensified tensions across the city.
A federal officer in Minneapolis shot a person in the leg after the officer was struck with a shovel during an arrest, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press, though they stressed the details were preliminary and the inquiry is in its early stages. The source, who was not authorised to speak publicly about the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity, provided the account.
The incident occurred roughly 7.2 kilometres north of the site where an immigration agent fatally shot Renee Good in the head on 7 January.
A substantial number of federal agents and Minneapolis police wearing gas masks discharged tear gas into a crowd gathered at a north Minneapolis intersection close to the location of shooting, officials said.
The Minneapolis Police Department said it is still gathering information, noting in a brief statement: "We are aware of reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement in North Minneapolis. We are working to confirm additional details."
According to local media, including FOX 9, the gunfire occurred in the 600 block of 24th Avenue North at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A tense crowd gathered at the scene, with protesters sounding horns and whistles as the situation escalated, according to witnesses. At least one ambulance was seen departing the area, while a significant number of federal agents and local police surrounded the block, which has been sealed off. The FBI has also responded to the scene.
The latest shooting comes as the Trump administration expands a major immigration and fraud enforcement push in Minnesota. More than 2,000 federal agents have already been deployed to the Twin Cities region, with an additional 1,000 personnel announced this week.
The heightened federal presence follows the 7 January killing of Good, 37, who was shot in her vehicle by ICE officer Jonathan Ross during an operation targeting undocumented migrants. The incident has sparked widespread demonstrations, including student walkouts and confrontations between protesters and federal agents, with officers seen deploying pepper spray.
Minnesota officials have sought a temporary restraining order to halt the ongoing ICE sweeps, a request now pending before a federal judge. Despite mounting public pressure, Ross has not been suspended or charged, with Trump administration officials maintaining that he acted in self-defence.
